The economies of the regions along the Irtysh River are an interesting and diverse phenomenon of territories comprising the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, the East Kazakhstan, Abay and Pavlodar Regions of Kazakhstan, as well as the Omsk, Tyumen Regions and the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Yugra in Russia. This vast region is characterised by its natural resources, cultural diversity and economic ties that contribute to the development of all areas.

Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has abundant natural resources including coal, oil, gas and minerals, making it one of the key centres for mining in China. The region's economy is booming with investment in infrastructure and transport, boosting trade with neighbouring countries and regions including Kazakhstan and Russia. Xinjiang also serves as an important hub under the One Belt, One Road initiative, which opens up new opportunities for trade and economic co-operation.

The East Kazakhstan, Abay and Pavlodar regions of Kazakhstan are industrial centres of the country, with developed metallurgical, chemical and energy industries. The Irtysh River valley in Kazakhstan provides favourable conditions for agriculture, where grain, oilseed crops and livestock products are produced. Interregional co-operation at the economic level is actively supported through the establishment of new trade mechanisms and joint projects aimed at improving logistics and exchange. This promotes the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, which in turn is responsible for sustainable economic growth and job creation.

The Omsk and Tyumen regions of Russia, as well as the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Yugra have significant oil and gas reserves, forests and soil resources (Tyumen and Omsk regions), which represent the main basis of their economies. These regions are actively working to diversify their economies through the development of agro-industry, high technology and tourism. The Khanty-Mansiysk region, for example, is known for its natural resources and forest management systems, which opens up opportunities for eco-friendly tourism and business activity.

The synergy between these regions runs through their economic and cultural ties, creating a strong potential for co-operation. Joint projects aimed at sharing technology, resources and expertise contribute to the creation of new production capacities and the development of innovative business models. Strengthening transport and logistics infrastructure in the Irtysh regions also opens new horizons for international trade, which increases the competitiveness of all participants.

The economies of the Irtysh regions represent a complex and interconnected network based on the advantages of each of the representatives. The Irtysh regions of China, Kazakhstan and Russia are well positioned for successful interaction that can lead to sustainable development and improved living standards. The future of these regions depends on their ability to cooperate and adapt to the challenges of a globalised world.
